We began this week in AP Calculus by reviewing something we learned a few months ago: u-substitution. We looked at u-substitution in the context of definite integrals. We did a lot of u-substitution problems that were basically reviewing what we learned a few months ago, and u-substitution over definite integrals. I did not have that much trouble over it, the only difficulty I faced was when a problem was really messy and I could not make sense of it.
Another thing we learned was slope fields. This one was pretty weird. It was kind of like graphing, but instead of drawing one line, we look at the derivative and draw a small line segment at every point to demonstrate the slope. We also looked at differential equations, where we had a point, and then after differentiating the equation, plug in x and y at a point to find out the constant, This one wasn't hard at all for me, even though I forgot to do the CCC. I'm not super sure on what purpose slope fields are supposed to help me do, but it was pretty easy for me, and it's probably going to show up again later.
We also got a lot of our tests back this week. As it turns out, our class sucks. I didn't do too bad. I did get a B, but I also got an A, and that managed to even my grade in this out at a low A. Our class average turns out to be a lot lower than 3rd hour though, but I feel like 3rd hour is full of try-hards. Besides, I'm still not doing too bad in this class, so you know what? Bullocks to them.
