This week, we looked more on derivatives of functions. On Tuesday, we did a lab where we zoomed in on curves in our calculators until we got a straight line. This was a nice introduction to tangent lines as that is basically what tangent lines are, and we can take a good look at it. We also learned about how to find derivatives of functions using algebra. The basics were pretty easy, although I started struggling a bit when we got into square roots and fractions in the function. I think I really just needed a little refresher on things like conjugation, since I took to it fine when I saw an example.
On Wednesday, we did another worksheet that had us measuring the tangent lines or a function at specific points and graph the derivative based off the slope of the tangent lines, I completely whiffed on it at first because it went over my head that we were supposed to use tangent lines and I mostly guessed the slopes, However, I quickly went back and fixed it, and most of my guess were pretty spot-on anyway,
On Thursday, we did Lab 6, which were a series of questions concerning the properties of derivatives based on the function's intervals of increasing and decreasing slopes, as well as extrema, based on looking at graphs like the one below. I didn't really have a lot of trouble on the lab, and everything went pretty smoothly. Although there was that time when Mr. Cresswell started messing with me with no provocation whatsoever, I might add. So thanks for that. I kid. <3 u, Cresswell.
Anyway, the final day was mostly taking up our blogs from last week as well as Lab 6. After that, we had a lesson on graphing derivatives, which was introduced in Lab 6, as well as differentiabilities.
