The things we learned in Precalculus tended to move towards the back of our minds over the summer. To get it to surface a little, Mr. Cresswell prepared a math problem about motion and time on the first day. We worked as a group to solve the problem using whiteboards and shared the answer with the class. I didn't get it right, but it did help me get a feel for what we will be doing in the class. Afterwards, we headed to the computer lab to fill out a survey as well as set up our Weebly blogs. For some reason, I spent a long time on the survey questions. Like that lunch question. I wasn't expecting that. By the time I finished the survey, it was almost the end of class, but I managed to get my Weebly blog set up in time.
On the next day, we went over the syllabus. We were also introduced to a pre-req packet that we would spend the rest of the week working on, where we reviewed math concepts from the math classes that we took in high school. I'm sure the me 3 months ago could have breezed through the packet, but the current me is really struggling as I try to remember the concepts that I had pretty much forgotten throughout summer. While it was difficult, I have to say that the packet was effective in jogging my memory of those concepts. Some things came easier than others though; since I was always more of an algebra person, I got the algebra better than the graphing. It actually that bad, it was actually kind of fun working with others on difficult problems.
For the last day of this week, I struggled to get the shapes for the packet done, since I can't bring them home, but it seems that the deadline has been extended to Monday. Overall, the packet has made the start a little shaky, but I still have confidence that I will be able to adjust in time.
